Walter Rheiner´s star of fame as an expressionist poet burned out in 1925 in Berlin, Germany. Lonely and abandoned he died from a morphine overdose in a dosshouse on Kantstrasse, being only 30 years of age. The hectic city - the "Berlin of the 20´s" devoured this "sombre poet" (as he saw himself) nearly without a trace.

The novel "Kokain" (Cocaine), written by Rheiner in the year 1918, ranks among the most outstanding literary texts, which originated at the threshold to those nineteen-twenties, which were erroneously declared as the "Golden Years".

This project was initiated by the german painter and writer Karmers. On CD1 the listener will find Rheiner´s poems, verses and his life´s history narrated by some of Germany´s finest actors and speakers. On CD2 the novel "Kokain" is read in full length, decorated with music by Ingo Ito.

Additionally several exhibitions with paintings of Karmers about Walther Rheiner had taken place in Germany during the years 2004 to 2006. Some of these pictures are shown on the left. In 2007 there might be a TV-Documentary about Rheiner on german television. Watch out for this on the News page.
